29/5/11
Well another month has come and gone, and hasn't the weather been fab ! Its the annual half marathon today so I was really chuffed to go round Saltram and show what a good runner looks like heehee.
I was pleased that a dozen of the most handsome hounds turned out to have a lovely walk and sniff about. We all had a nice chinwag about the forthcoming Great British Greyhound Walk on the 26th of next month. Last year 25 of us proudly walked round Saltram before having a lovely picnic by the Retired Greyhound Trust stand. On the stand my mum and dad had lots of goodies like leads, collars, beds and other greyhoiund goodies all in aid of the RGT.
Please can you all ask your mums and dads to let you come on this one as we, nationaly, want to get 2000 greyhounds out walking at the same time. We will be having a picnic again (if the weather allows) and mum and dad will have the RGT stand there with the goodies. I know some of your parents are trying to get sponsorship as well which is really good of them.
So I'm looking forward to the next walk and hope to see you all there. Thanks for coming today and see you all soon.

24/4/11
Yippee here it is at last, Easter. Hasn't it been a long time in coming this year. Still here it is and so is my monthly walk. We all met up as usual had a natter and a good sniff before we began the walk. One thing that surprised me was how quiet Saltram was, I dont think I've ever seen it so quiet. Amber even told me how good I was, which wasn't that surprising as there wasn't the usual amount of pesky little dogs about.
Well it was an uneventful wander round, the tide was in so Amber and the others couldn't race about on the beach. The weather was lovely so it was a nice peaceful relaxing walk.
Thats about it for this month so thanks to those who came and I hope to see you all on the 29th of next month.

27/3/11
Wahey its spring at last. All that nasty snow and ice gone and boy what a lovely day to celebrate the new season. I love spring all the daffys and other flowers the sounds and smells, which reminds me its Saltram walk day.
Welcome to Mollie who has been adopted by Danielle and her family from Torquay and to the two Whippetts who came to join us. Mollie was a bit feisty with all of us who went to say hello but calmed down after a while, probably because she was a bit unsure about us all, or maybe cos she was female heehee.
Well we set off and all the new smells for us, wonderful, the tide was in so the river was full and looked good. When we got to the beach Amber wanted to play in the water but dad kept her on the lead, especially after last months swim with her coat on. Milo had a great time racing around after his ball and I spied lots of possible lunches in the form of small dogs which were in great abundance. I must have a word with Cracker and see if he's up for some sport. I don't suppose he will be tho cos he's so laid back and under Alice's thumb. |
Dad told everyone about the 2011 great british greyhound walk which is on 26th June at Saltram. Dad will have his RGT stand there and we will all stop for a picnic after the walk. It will be a sponsored walk or a donation to trhe RGT so anyone wanting a sponsor form either ask at the next walk email me and I will send one. All monies will go to RGT Hillview.
Well thats it for this month thanks to all for coming and see you all on 24th April.

27/2/11
Well here we are again another month gone by,what does my dad mean when he says another day another dollar? we have pounds here oh I suppose it just proves what i've always said - he's nuts!
Welcome to Ally and Purdy who join for the 1st time. They were at auntiy Vickies at rgt hillview until Johns family kindly gave them a home.
Nice to see Freda again as well as Benny in fact its always nice to everyone, which reminds me has anyone seen Merv or Charlie the Whippetty things or maybe Jocie and Prince. I've not seen Prince and his mum Sonia since he won a rosette or two at Okehampton last summer.
Anyway what I said about me being the weather guru last month, forget it what a horrid day. This must be the worst day we've ever had. Heehee be summer soon tho.
A good walk had by all and some very interesting smells for us even our mums and dads seem tired this time. They must be getting old, which reminds me I'm 10 in April doesn't time fly!
Amber proved she's stupid today, went for a swim. You may say whats wrong with that, I say nothing - but take your coat off first, DOH. haha you should have seen her shivering after. Me in that water this time of year not a chance brrrr too cold for me.
Anyway thats it for this month, thanks to all for coming along.
Dad will have some news about the great british greyhound walk 2011 next time some I hope you all will come along. See you on 27th March.

30/1/11
Hey its a new year, happy 2011 everyone. Well this is the 1st walk of the year (except for those who braved it on the 2nd). Still I like it when we all get together and have a good sniff about.
Sorry about missing off the last few walks but although I keep pestering dad, he tells me he has been busy and not had time so I have let him off as long as he writes up this years walks.
So let me say a welcome to Freda who dad rehomed recently, she had been in a home but sadly her owner died and the family couldnt cope with her, still she has a lovely home now and thanks also to her mum for bringing her. As well as Freda, we welcome Amy who has been rehomed by gables farm. Again thanks to both her mum and dad for bringing her along. I hope you both enjoyed the day
![]() | Its nice to see that Gables Farm have come along again with some of our friends looking for a new home. Hopefully people will see their jackets and ask about adopting them. You know I think I'm going to sell my services as a good weather provider, It always seems to cheer up when we have have this walk. Cracker and Alice have just about got their new playmate Shadow settled in and Alice has made sure he knows his place. They have also got some nice new coats to keep them cosy. Ah that reminds me, dont forget dad has got lots of coats and things to sell on behalf of the Retired Greyhound Trust, so if you need a wardrobe revamp let us know. Well thats about it for this time see you all on Feb 27th same place same time. |
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
29/8/10 Haven't we had some rain over the last few weeks, still its better today which is good as its the time when I catch up with my mates on my walk. Nice to see charlie again, his mum and dad really spoil him as they bring him all the way from Crediton. Nice to see aunty Jan and family again too. Now I have a question, can someone tell me what happened to Merv and his mum. They went back to a poo bin and disappeared. I hope the bin didnt get them. we waited for ages at the beach but we didn't see them again. When we were on the beach dad let Amber off lead and she ran round as usual but this time she was joined by some of our friends too. I did feel sorry for her though as she cut her paw, it did bleed rather a lot, i suppose she will | ![]() |
![]() | be limping and making the most of it for a couple of weeks.( I must remember not to laugh) Still they did have some fun Now thanks to Benny's dad for the pictures and to all for coming along. The next walk will be on 19th September at Mt Edgcumbe a week early (see my monthly walks) as on the 26th there will be an exciting day out with a treasure hunt and a BBQ see my events page for details. Well thats all for now and if anyone finds Merv and his mum let me know. Hope to see you all at Mt Edgcumbe. PS nice pub with a good pint sitting on the riverside at the end heehee |
25/7/10
Well here we are again Troopers Sunday saunter, yet another lovely day walking in Saltram. Now last month at Okehampton I met Charlie the whippetty thingy who knew Merv through facebook, well how cool he came on my walk and met Merv.
My old chum Cracker came out this month along with Alice, blimey its about 3 months since I last saw them so we had a real long chinwag. It was while we were sniffing about together I realised their mum was holding a black boy I hadnt seen before and it turns out that Cracks has got a new playmate. He tells me its all cool and that they get on fine, Hmmm dont get any ideas dad!
Well we had a nice walk round and as usual I got annoyed with some of the small yappy dogs that seem to plague us cos they are off the lead. I do wish their mums and dads were as responsible as ours!!! We stopped at the beach and dad let Amber off the lead to race round like a loon. Phew it tires me out just to watch. Well we all got back to the cars ok said our byes til next month and headed home for a good kip. See you all next month. The picture is of us all at the beach at Saltram |
27/6/10 My goodness me, its a Sunday morning, why are you getting me up so early I thought. Well it was because we were off to the Okehampton Donkey Derby. Vicky from Hillview rehoming centre went last year but as she couldnt make it this time my mum and dad decided to bring their RGT stand along instead. Well it was a fun day and as usual I made a few new friends. My dad entered both me and Amber into some dog show classes and between us we won 4 rosettes and Amber even got a 2nd place. My mate Prince came along with his mum to help out for which I thank them. Prince also won 2 rosettes in the dog show, well done mate, you'll be as cool as me soon. | Mum on our RGT stand |
You know its funny but boy is it a small world. I was chatting to a young whippett chap from Crediton way and i mentioned I had a friend called Merv who was a whippett and would you adam and eve it (oops sorry my Wimbledon days) I mean believe it, he knows him too! they only chat together on facebook. How spooky is that?
I also had a good natter with a most strange looking dog (or so I first thought) that turned out to be called a pygmy goat, nice chap tho and we shared a joke or two before he had go and do something with thw army cadets.
I dont think there were as many humanoids this year, I heard someone say something about a cup somewhere in the world whatever that had to do with it I don't know. Still it was fun watching those silly humanoids riding, or should I say falling off, donkeys. I think everyone enjoyed themselves tho.
![]() Prince showing off his rosettes with his mum | Sharing a joke |
Well another good day, lovely sunny weather made lots of new friends won some prizes had a picnic and made a few bob for the RGT.
Hey its a good life this retirement game!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20/6/10
Well here it is the day where all greyhounds stand up to be counted. All risk assessments done, insurance cover sorted and RGT stand up and running.
Yes its "The Great British Greyhound Walk 2010" and hopefully the first of many to come.
Well it was a glorious day and Saltram looked lovely. We arrived at about 9am and mum and dad put up the gazeythingy for the RGT stand. I just sat in the car with Amber and thought about meeting all my fellow K9's. When all was ready we all sat on the grass waiting for peeps to arrive. First was my old mate Prince and his mum and dad and then bit by bit lots of new greys I hadnt met before came and joined us. (I don't know where the regulars were but they didnt come and support the cause). We had 4 from Looe (and blimey one of them was huge) some from Saltash, Kingsbridge, Liskeard. Peanut and Nutkins from Tavistock, Lottie from Plymouth and so many other new greys that I hadnt seen before. All together 25 greys with their families. Well we set off on our walk and had a lovely time sniffing and doing the things we like to do best.
|
When we got part way round the nice lady from Kingsbridge had to go back because her dog was quite old and so couldn't manage all the way but I'd like to thank them for coming and helping make the day a success. I hope they will come back to see us again on one of my monthly walks. When we got to the beach We all had a bit of a rest and a play on the sand. There was a little terrier in the water who kept barking at us, I wanted to go and advise it to stop (teehee) but dad wouldnt let me. After a 10 minute stop we carried on back to the RGT stand which mum was looking after, poor mum had to stay behind and wait for us to come back but she said lots of peeps had commented on all the greyhounds and wondered what was going on. |
Well by now it was very warm so we all had a nice cold drink and settled down for a picnic. Some kind peeps donated some monies to the stand and some mums and dads bought presents for their dogs (dad take note). Haha look at the picture and guess whose had a new bed. Well thats about it we had 25 dogs on our walk, we raised £35 for Hillview from sponsorship and had a lovely picnic in the sun. What more can you wish for. The national total of dogs on the walk was, 1639. We should all be proud that we were part of it and I would like to thank everyone who came for making it such a lovely day Hope to see you all soon on July 25th on my next monthly walk.
|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
30/5/10
Here we are again its my monthly walk day. Well not much to say really we didnt get a good turn out this time but thank you to those that did come. I was hoping more would come as my dad had some sponsor forms with him for the GBGW and I so wanted to raise some money for Vicky at Hillview rehoming centre. It was a bank holiday so maybe everyone was on hols, or maybe peeps were running in the half marathon.
I did ask dad if he would send out some sponsor forms to the email addys we have so hopefully all is not lost, but please still come even if you dont want to be sponsored.
I think it was very kind of someone to put a sign in the trees to warn people that we were coming, or was it due to the half marathon. What do you think? Merv the whippett agrees with me but Lottie(grumpy knickers) thinks it was for the other lot, women eh. Well thats about it from me for now so see you all soon and hopefully at the Great British Greyhound Walk at Saltram on the 20th June. Remember it starts at 10am. We need a good turn out so come on guys get your mums and dads out for the cause. Bring a picnic if the weathers good and we can sit and bask in the sun while other stand back to admire us. Dad will have his gazzythingy up too so it will be a really cool day. Awesome! | ![]() |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15/5/10
Phew it has been a busy week what with sorting out insurance and risk assessment thingys for the GBGW in June and getting ready for todays dog show
Still the weather was pretty good and the turn out was pretty good too. We had to use a different car cos dads Jeep was in for Mot ( dad frowned alot and said no pocket money for a while so I think it failed). This meant dad had to make 2 trips both ways, ! for the stand and goodies and 1 for me Amber and mum. It was worth the effort though because I made some new friends, answered a lot of questions about Greys and met up with Jocie again. I think the stand looks pretty good, mind its due the handsome boy and his mum manning it don't you think |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8/5/10
Today was a really exciting day because it was my first day with my own official Rgt stand. Yippee. The nice lady at the Rgt called Kim sent me some nice goodies to sell and Jenny and Carrie organised leaflets and a lovely big banner. My dad bought me a big tent called a gazzy someting to put it all in and keep us dry if it rained.
Well the 1st event was at Saltram House for their Doggy Olympics. This was the first time for about 5 years that they have held such an event and I have to say it was quite a success. It was low key, fun and quite well attended. My Rgt stand answered lots of questions people had about greyhounds and we sold a few items raising much needed cash for the Rgt.
I was helped by Prince, with his mum Sonya and my dad who didn't want me to come alone (don't quite know why but....) and Amber came too (pesky female)
Gables Farm came along and did some microchipping, one of the city dog wardens and a vet practice came too.
Entertainment was provided by Prince Rock Agility club (Now that agility game looks toooooo much like hard work, I felt tired just watching and had to have a lie down in the car)
There were also some show classes for fun but I didn't enter any cos I had my stand to supervise.
Hey my next stand is at Gables Farm on Saturday 15th May for their May Dog Show why not come along and say hi, its going to be a greyt day out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1/5/10
There I was happy in the land of nod when dad woke me and told me "we're going to Obby Oss day at Padstow", Obby what? Oh well its a day out and the weather seems fairly good so ok.
Amber and me with mum at the Maypole Hey while we were there we saw a bus with a greyhound on its side how cool is that, they are even naming buses after us. Heehee | So this is Obby Oss day, a day for a strange black thing to cavort round the streets to music, followed by humans dressed in white dancing and singing. Things these humans do fun! A nice lady came up to us to tell us she had 2 greys called Elly and Digby, so dad told her about my walks Later that evening they emailed us to say their mum was bringing them to my next walk, how cool is that and all the way from St Austell too! Also a nice couple stopped us to ask about greys as they often thught about getting one, hey guys just do it we need homes so badly. Mum and dad had a pasty and an ice cream, we got nothing (thanks) As you know Amber is very timid and scared of the world, well she had a nice day although she did get a little scared once or twice but I was there to help and reassure her. Well we all had a nice day and went home happy, do you like the pic of me with mum and Amber at the Maypole? I did have a thought tho when I was laying in my bed, I think this day was organised so that the humans could spend lots of time in the pub and get wobbly legs. Dad why didnt we go the pub?
|
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18/4/10 Well here we are again back out on my monthly walk. It was a lovely ferry ride across the Tamar even if mum did have to lift Amber on to it much to the amusement of other passengers. Once we got to the other side thank god she got off on her own (well I couldnt take more embarrassment). We were first here but who cares it was such a lovely day, so sunny and warm. Soon we were joined by a new couple called Maxine and Frank with their dogs, Jazz, Jenny and Beauty followed by a new whippett called Mervyn who was as wide as he was tall. Nippa came along with John and we had a new student with us called Jenna who is from Finland and staying for 6 weeks. |
Out of all the dogs who had come before Blossom was the only one to come this time, but we were clashing with Cornwall branch and their monthly meet and greet.
Well it was just glorious walking along the paths all those new smells, the National Camellia collection and the plants coming into flower. The views were just breathtaking in the sunshine. When we got back to the start we just had to have a beer to wash down the picnic we had brought with us. I did miss my friends Cracker and Alice tho as well as all my friends who normally join me.
Looking toward Plymouth over the duck lake | Having a chill out session after the climb up to Maker |
Well the next walk is posted as are details of some other events(see events page) If anybody can pursuade their mums and dads to help my dad at one of the events please get in touch and dont forget the GBGW in June.
See you all soon and here's to a good summer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
28/3/10 Here we are again time for my monthly day out. This time I thought we'd have a change and walk along the old railtrack in Plymbridge woods. Simples, as they say but alas no! Why are humanoids such numpties? Firstly my dad said free parking at the park n ride in Coypool everyone turned up and it doesnt open on Sundays no probs says dad, (ok I believe you) we'll park in B&Q carpark. Nope it says someting about clamping and dad didn't want a big fine (am I not worth it?) so we managed to find spaces on the road that didn't have yellow lines and some parked at the railway centre cos they knew the boss, (think he's called Thomas) |
Ok so we've got Cracker, Alice, Nippa, Benson, Billy, Maxine, Prince, Lottie and a new boy whose name I cant remember. This along with me and Amber made 11. So it was about 11.15 when we set off. Well Billy Maxine Benson and Nippa set off a little earlier and must have gone the bottom path as we went on the top path so we lost them. As we got to the Viaduct we met another couple, Luke and Verity who (I was expecting as they had emailed me) were late so met us half way with their two dogs (total 13).Once again a nice weather day and lots of fun was had by all. The humanoids went all oooh aaah when they saw a peregrine nesting site and we all went oooh aaaah at the strange and excellent new smells we found.
We all had a chat at the end and decided we would go to Mt Edgcunbe next month as we hadnt been there since last September and we had a really good time after the walk cos Cracker and Alice's dad told us it would be very rude not to stop at the pub on the way home so being polite peeps.........................burp
My dad told everyone about the Great British Greyhound Walk in June and hopefully everyone can attend. See my events page for more details.
When we got home I had a message on my guestbook from Nutkins and Peanut saying that their numpty humanoids had forgotten to put the clocks on. I just knew someone would forget - yawn!!!
I also have to apologise to Peanut cos last month I wrote that Peanut was Nutkins ladyfriend, well although Nutkins found this really funny Peanut was most unimpressed as he is a male.
Still that all for now have a good month and I hope to see you all on the 18th April
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
28/2/10
Phew this has been a tiring month for me, 2 big days out in 2 weeks. I dont mind in summer but I'm not overly impressed with this wet and cold stuff, mind I think I'm a weather guru! Everytime we have a day out the weather seems to behave and apart from a quick shower it stayed dry again for my monthly meet. So as you have have gathered by now its that time of month when I have my get together with my pals and we drag our families out for a couple of hours to give them some exercise.
What a good turn out, all in all 22 dogs came out but Maria and John were late so Billy Benson and Maxine had to rush to catch us up and Gurgi and Bolt came really late and couldn't catch us up so I missed out on teasing the little terrors.
As we walked round we had a chat and then managed to persuade our families to have the next walk at Plymbridge woods ( see "my monthly walks" page for details ) all in all we had a good couple of hours and we found out that there is going to be a dog day at Saltram House on the 8th May. My dad will probably organise a Retired Greyhound Trust stand at this event so any greyhounds that want to pop along and say hi I'd be really pleased to see you.
Well that about it for now so have a good month and if you want to talk to me send me an email or leave me a comment in my guest book. Keep spreading the word about the site and the walks as the weathers getting better now and your families won't have the "bad weather" excuse heehee.

Picture of us all outside the NT Trust shop at Saltram. On the left is Jason and Verity who were brought from Tavistock by Nutkins and his ladyfriend . Centre picture is little Taz sitting with the green coat. It was nice to see Lad again, enjoying his freedom with his new Mum who says he is doing really well and has settled into home life really well. It was also nice to see Prince again.

14/2/10
Hey its Valentines day and no-one sent me a card!!! not even Amber (mind I didn't send any either)
Oh well its a day out to Westward Ho. Off we went at about 11.30 and blimey it took forever we got there about 1.00pm and met up with my old mates Cracker and Alice. We had a good sniff about while our mums and dads chatted and then we eventually found where everyone else was - no signs to help us. So back into the cars and we drove to the very bottom of the car park.
Well there were about 40 or so dogs, a raffle and a table with all sorts of goodies to buy. We chatted to the others for about an hour and then they drew the raffle Dad won a bottle of wine and Crack's mum, well she couldnt stop winning, I think she won about 200 times (well 3 or 4).
After we had a nice walk along the beach before a picnic in the car. While we were picnicing we saw a rescue happening with paramedics, ambulance, coastguard and a helicopter it was so exciting I had to have a lie down after.
We left about 5.30pm having had a nice day and having met some new pals who are really happy and settled in their forever homes.

31/1/10
Well here we are again the last Sunday of the month and the time when I meet all my chums. Once again the weather held but boy has it been cold, I have had to spend sooooo much time in bed its been wonderful haha.
Well what a good turn out we had today, all the regulars, plus a new boy called Nippa and his dad John (he found out about the walks when he was chatting up Pip on Central Park) Billy, Benson and Maxine came along for the first time with their mum and dad Maria and John (friends of Nippa). Then came two tiny little greyhounds, they were really small and my dad told me they are called Whippets well it had me wondering if they needed to go to the gym to get a big bigger but I was reassured that they are meant to be that size.We also two dogs that used to live at Gables Farm join us for the first time, Jocie and her family (with another of these Whippet thingies) and Lad, with his mum. Jocie lives with a whippet, and she told me they are great fun to chase round. All in all we had some 16 dogs and their humanoids today and it was great, the weather kept fine and we all had a good old chinwag and played the game "I can pee on top of yours first".
Jocie is 2nd left (dark burgundy coat). Gurgi and Bolt the whippets in the middle (flourescent and red). Lad (white) with Maxine,Billy and Benson on right. As you can see from the picture we had a really big group which caused a lot of interest from people walking around.
|
Cracker told me of an event at Westward Ho on Valentines Day organised by the Greyhound Sanctuary, which I passed on to all.
Well thats about it for this month I hope to see you all on February 28th. Have a good month and dont do anything too strenuous heehee.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/1/10
Yes , here it is that time the humans call New Year (whatever that means) Back in December my dad explained to me that over the Xmas and New Year thing humans eat and drink too much so, I thought I'd be kind and drag them out to help get them fit again with some exercise and fresh air. A walk round Saltram in a crisp (and rather cold) January morning was in order. I'd had a word with my friends at the December walk and they agreed to say nothing but to spring it on their mums and dads early this morning . Haha it worked a treat!!! you should have seen my mum and dads face's when I told them what I'd planned well they couldn't let everyone down could they. Hahaha dad wasn't going HoHoHo now
Well 6 of us turned up with our parents and we had a jolly good walk along the river and through the woods. we chatted about what we had been given for Xmas and about the food we'd managed to snaffle without being caught, seems we'd all had a ball and been spoilt rotten.
I am thinking of doing a charity walk in the spring so any ideas of where to have the walk let me know and I think I may do a charity tin rattle outside a pet shop or supermarket in the near future. Any one free on a Saturday or Sunday let me know, it would be nice to have a turnout of my mates to meet and greet people and I reckon we'll get lots of pats and strokes.
Any way thats all for now, I've been up for an hour, so its back to bed for me. Hope to se you all on the next walk, Jan 31st at Saltram.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20/12/09
Hurray Its my favourite day of the month where I get to meet up with all my pals. A quick look out of the window told me it was a nice sunny day so off we went to Coypool carpark. Brrrrrrrrr hey nobody told me that it was freezing, blimey my poor paws and boy was it slippy.
Well we had a great time despite the cold, Cracker and Alice came from Liskeard all dressed up in Christmas gear, they looked fab. Pip came with her mum and dad and a new girl called Lola came from Brixham. She told me she's only been in her home for about 3 weeks but she is loving it and she has some chickens to entertain her too. Her mum and dad are really nice and she hopes they will keep her forever as the new home is nice and warm with a comfy bed. I think she is spoilt cos she gets to walk on the beach nearly every day ( take note dad). Needless to say Amber (the bitch) came along, well I suppose she has to. She is getting better tho and she IS beginning to realise who the boss is!
Prince's mum phoned my mum to say he couldn't come as they had family round but I think that was an excuse, he was shopping for my present really haha you can't fool me, or maybe........
We were hoping for 2 puppy whippetts but their dad was poorly and my friends from Gables couldn't come as they had no transport. Toby, Tamba and Jans gang couldn't come probably cos Jan had to work.
As for Maise, well she's gone off to London to see Fraser and party.
We walked for about 2 hrs and it was soooo funny, I ask you how daft are some of these humans? below 0c lots of ice and some of them go on bike rides!!! Boy did we laugh at them falling off. Why do they think they are more intelligent than us? Although it was a bit nippy the sun shone and everyone had fun and a good walk was had by all.
|
When we got back to the car park, we all had a chat and decided that as it would be 6 weeks til the end of January we would have an extra walk on January 3rd at Saltram to blow away the festive cobwebs. We chose Saltram so the Gables dogs could come too.
So thats another year over, (crikey I'll be 9 soon) and it just leaves me to say a big thank you for your support on the walks and to wish you all a
Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Big hugs and licks
Trooper
xxxxxxxxx
p.s. see you at Saltram in 2 weeks

It was a damp wet Sunday and I lay in my bed all cosy and warm when dad announced we were going out for the day to Padstow. My comment? Ok cool, see you later!!
Huh not a chance upstairs he came collar on and dragged me out into the car, yes you guesssed it Amber was coming too. Well off we went, got to Saltash and the A38 was closed great a huge tailback and a diversion. Ok so 2 hrs later, Padstow
Well we went see Maggie the lady from chocolicious (Mum love the choccies) and then had a walk round the town and along the beach.
On the way back to the car Dad suggested we stop a the pub, (damn fine idea, lots of new admirers to stroke me) and have a beer. Now dad listen, please understand that the word "we" needs to include me. water is fine for the most but beer is good for a treat so come on, you should order 2 pints (you n Mum) and a half for meee. What, Amber, no she doesn't want one! We got home about 6ish had dinner and yes you guessed it, off to bed, lovely.
Below I've put a pic of me with mum and Amber and as its nearly Christmas I've given up space for a pic of Amber (well it would have been of just me but Dad bribed me with a treat) She does look a bit like a bag lady in her coat haha, its 3 sizes too big but I suppose Dad will get her a new one

Hurray its Sunday Saunter day.
Off we went to Saltram House to meet with my walking mates. Yes you guessed it we had to take "the bitch". Mind she is starting to behave herself a bit and is learning that my bed is MY BED. Once again the weather held off and we had a brill time despite my numpty Dad forgetting his camera. I think Crackers Dad took a pic and hopefully he will email it to me soI can put it it up on here. Toby could not come this time as he was away somewhere but Lad and Star from Gables came again and lots of people were asking questions about grehounds. Prince didn't come either so I hope he's ok.There had been a rockfall by the theatre folly on the river so we had to go round by climbing up some steps, I did feel sorry for the humans hahaha did they huff and puff getting up them. Mum was at work so didn't come along leaving Dad to look after both me and the bitch but she behaved well as did I ( well I have a go at some little yappy dogs, but they do need to be put in their place). Dad sold his Xmas cards so a big thanks on behalf of Hillview centre. We had a chat after the walk and decided we would have the December walk at Plymbridge so have a look at the monthly walks page for details and hope to see you there. Oh and you can come dressed for Xmas if you want, go on tell mum you want to be in fancy dress I dare you!!!!!

Well here we are 9.00am on a wet cold Friday morning and Mum and Dad have bundled me into the car. They are taking me to see auntie Vicky at Hillview rehoming centre. Dad wants to get some Xmas cards and coats to sell at the walk on Sunday and thought it would be a good idea for us all to help Vicky with the dogs for a few hours. Well we helped walk the 10 dogs and then helped feed them. Then they put me in the car while they had a cup of tea before leaving, or so I thought!!! Dad came back to car alone and got me out and took me back to the kennels - NO, surely not, they cant leave me behind. Phew no they didn't. But they did introduce me to a little girl called Shirl, a nervous and timid little thing but she was quite cute. THEN came the bombshell, They were taking her home Oh no, yuk, a female, eeew. I now have to share my bed, the garden and everything with her. Its really not fair and guess what, the bitch takes up so much room in the car and then has the cheek to growl at me when I try to lay down.
![]() | WATCH THIS SPACE I'll show her whose the boss ( may need her permission to say so tho) Hey I like that name " the bitch" even though Mum and Dad have renamed her Amber I shall call her "the bitch". |

Well its been a quiet month for me, Dads been busy in the house and so I haven't really been anywhere exciting (been a boring old git he has! I mean the house is dry and warm, I can get to my bed and food so whats the problem). Anyway, here we are again monthly walk day.
Off we went to Saltram House and met up with the friends I meet each month. This month 15 came along with their families and we had great fun sniffing about. I think I've come up with a new game, I'm going to call it "Who can poo the quickest" hee hee. I won this time but it was a scramble for second and third places!! Its also great fun to watch everyone and then be the 1st to pee on top of someone elses, the mad dash and queue is so funny.
Dad showed all the families the Greyhound Xmas cards and coats he can get and thank you to those who ordered some. This will help Vicky at Hillview Kennels buy some nice Xmas pressies for my mates who are still there waiting for their forever homes.
Thanks also to Gables Farm for letting Ladd and Star come along for the morning they loved it!
I also made a new freind called Toby who came with his dad and thanks to all for coming. I look forward to seeing you all again in November.
If anyone wants a nice warm or waterproof coat for winter, or some Xmas cards drop me an email at troopergreyhound@yahoo.co.uk or come to the next walk( see my monthly walks page) where My dad will have some with him.
![]() This is Ladd (left) and Star who are looking for a forever home (Cracker and Alice's mum from Liskeard fell in love with Star) Come on someone give them a break, would you like to spend Christmas in a cold kennel on your own. | ![]() This is my new friend Toby, he's a really decent chap. |
![]() | This is a picture of Pip, Prince and Cracker, Pip has got her muzzle on because she got a bit boisterous and grizzly (typical female when she can't get her own way) and her dad is trying to teach her some manners. As you can see Prince thinks its hilarious as does Crackers mum. If I remember my history lessons at school, didn't King Charles have a beard like Pip's dad or was that Guy Fawkes? Maybe drop me a note on my guestbook and tell me what you think heehee. |

Hey its Monthly walk day. We caught the 10.15 Cremyll ferry to Mt Edgcumbe Mmmmm that was a strange new experience on my legs but I wasn't seasick and all was good. We arrived in Cornwall in beautifull sunshine and met up with old friends Cracker and Alice from Liskeard, Roger from Saltash and Pip from Plymouth. I also met Prince from Plymouth who I had seen once previously when my Dad stopped his Mum in the street to tell her about today.
We had a sniff, lick and a chinwag before telling our families we wanted to do the 4 mile, 2 hr walk. You should have seen their faces haha, they haven't had so much exercise in years.
It was a glorious walk with all the sea views and the weather was so good that when we got back back to the Edgcumbe Arms we thought it would have been very rude not to stop for a beer (or two).
After a relaxing time on the banks of the Tamar it was time to say goodbye til next month when we meet up again and hopefully Argyle will not be playing so more of my friends can come out for the day, ( Dad take note when deciding a date)
Check on the My monthly walks page for more details or email me.

22/9/09 Update
Dad took me to the vet today and yippee the socks are off!!! Stitches are out and all is good mind you my legs do look a little odd without those dew claws, well i have had them for a long time and kinda got used to them being there. I got a nice dental stick for being good in the vets too.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20/9/09 Today was a great day, it was sunny and clear so Dad took me to some woods near Bodmin called Cardyimium woods or something like that. We took my Dads other son Anthony ( he doesn't look like me and he not nearly as good looking), his girlfriend Charlotte and two new Polish students that came to us yesterday. They are called Kate and Goshia. When we got there I saw my friend Pip from Plymouth and also lots of new Greyhounds I hadn't met before as well as Cracker who came on my last Sunday saunter at Saltrum. She told me she is coming next week to Mt Edgcumbe. I have put some pictures below of the day. I have to say these woods are really nice and there were so many lovely new smells for me I just couldnt stop peeing with all the excitement.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the afternoon we had a trip to Dunster and Minehead and then through Porlock to Lynmouth before heading home for a well earned sleep and some dinner. It really was a good day out.

BE WARNED
Not all trips out are fun! This morning Mum and Dad got me up really early and put on my collar so I thought hey, cool a day out. Yea right. We got into the car and off we went, after about 15 mins we stopped and got out and there it was, THE VETS arrrrrgh. They took me in and left me for an operation to remove my dew claws, clean my teeth and clean inside my ears talk about taking the P' oops, the mickey. I know that Mary the nurse is kind but it still hurts and I look a complete wally in these bandages. A bit like white socks, er, cmon think about how a cool fashionable dude like me looks in white socks!!

Mum and Dad took me to Tintagel for the afternoon. It was a bit damp and windy but had some fun at King Arthurs Castle. The steps up were very steep but I got the hang of it and wow what a view from the top. Only problem was I couldn't find the King and as for his Castle, well, our shed is posher. Perhaps he went to keep warm at a friends house.
